We were torn. We wanted a small, intimate wedding with just family and few friends, but we also have big families that are a BIG part of our lives, and many friends who are chosen family. So, we’ve been trying our hardest to create our best-of-both-worlds experience. We officially got married May 19, 2019 in the Chapel at Principia College with our families. This seemed like the optimum time since Micah’s family was in the area for his graduation. While we were so grateful for things to have worked out for a small wedding, we also love our peeps and want to party with you all! So, check out our website for information about the big celebration happening this summer in Oregon!
We've booked a stunning venue across the river from Mount Hood in White Salmon, WA! Our original date was set for July of 2020, but Covid had different plans for many of us and we are now rescheduled for June 2021. We're still looking to spend a day on the river on Friday (please let us know asap if you're interested in rafting), and a day on Mount Hood on Saturday, and wrapping up the weekend with a celebration of Love & Life with everyone on Sunday evening. Get ready for some family-friendly fun in the summer of 2021.
Ariana: In the summer of 2016, I finally took the advice of a dear friend to write a list of all the qualities I was looking for in a man. When I met Micah, it took me 3 days to realize he fulfilled every single one of my quirky "requirements," and then some. Day 3 of looking at the stars together through our college observatory telescope, drinking hot chocolate and talking about Life and summer camp outside of the deans office, and doing more soul searching staring up at the stars from the roof of an academic building (shhh! Don’t tell anyone!), I knew God had given me the gift I had been searching for. And He doesn’t hold back when it comes to perfection. After writing that list, I came to realize that since "love is reflected in love," I too had to embody those same qualities. So, while being tall and ruggedly handsome are qualities I struggle with, I continue to strive to be a better version of myself and to reflect the love that I've been blessed with. Micah: I was really developing who I wanted to be for the rest of my life; forming the mindset, values and relationships conducive to a higher moral character. I became clear on who I wanted to be and therefore the qualities in a relationship that would compliment and advance my growth into the whole man. I knew the woman that God had intended for me would appear when I was ready, and when I got to know Ariana, playing frisbee on the chapel green of Principia College, it soon became clear that this was that relationship! Since becoming a unit, we have grown in joy and sorrow, adventure and tribulation, but all the while grow closer together with God. Now, as we join together in marriage we are looking to give to the communities we join, setting an example of love's infinite capacity to bless and heal. We are excited and SO grateful to have each other in this life, and to have you as a part of our story!
