We're getting married

Our story began in January 2020, just after the winter break, though destiny had started working its magic long before that. Jose had just graduated from Iowa State University in December 2019 and made a big move to Houston for a new opportunity. He had accepted a position as the new P.E. coach at Black Elementary. What he didn’t know at the time was that this school would not only be the start of his career; it would also be the place where he’d meet the love of his life. Evelyn had been teaching second grade at Black Elementary. For the past year, she’d felt the pull to transfer schools, yet something always kept her there. Looking back now, she knows it wasn’t just circumstance, it was fate. They first crossed paths at a staff meeting in January, where Jose was introduced as the new coach. Evelyn remembers catching sight of him and thinking, “Oh… he’s cute.” She had known a new P.E. coach was coming, but she never expected him. She certainly never expected he’d be the one. Weeks passed, and though they often saw each other around campus, they never spoke. But there was a quiet spark between them a kind of curiosity that grew stronger with each passing glance. One thing that caught both their eyes: the cars. Jose drove a sleek white Charger, and Evelyn had a bold black Camaro. Their shared love for sporty cars became an unspoken connection. Then one morning, everything changed. They happened to arrive at school around the same time. In the lounge, as Evelyn poured her morning coffee and Jose clocked in for the day, he finally gathered the courage to say something. “Do you drive the black Camaro? Nice car.” Evelyn smiled and complimented his Charger in return. That small exchange turned into a conversation… and then a friendship. Slowly, their interactions became more frequent, more meaningful. One day, Jose asked her out after work. It was casual, but full of possibility. As they spent more time together, their connection deepened. Then the world changed. The pandemic hit in March 2020, and everything slowed down. But for Jose and Evelyn, time seemed to open up. Without the usual distractions, they focused on each other. They talked, laughed, shared their dreams, and fell in love. In June 2020, Jose asked Evelyn the question that had been building in his heart: “Will you be my girlfriend?” She said yes. And from that moment, a new chapter began. Then, on December 10, 2021, they welcomed their greatest blessing, a beautiful baby boy named Sebastian Avalos. He brought even more joy, purpose, and love into their lives. Now, here we are! years later, countless memories later getting ready to say I do. And the best part? This is only the beginning.
