The bride and groom met at Dirty Bourbon Dance Saloon in Albuquerque, NM. After a few hours of dancing with strangers and getting rejected (Diego), Evelyn saw Diego walking around. Contrary to her sober mannerisms, Evelyn decided to follow Diego around. She was trying to build up the confidence to actually talk to him, but he stopped in his tracks. Evelyn didn't know what to do, she didn't want to be seen as a stalker, so she nonchalantly leaned against a handrail. Diego fell into her trap, they locked eyes, and Diego asked Evelyn to dance. The rest is history, Diego bought Evelyn a drink, Evelyn gave Diego her ACTUAL phone number, and they never stopped speaking to each other.
God's timing is perfect, isn't it? Six months after meeting Evelyn, Diego moved to Arizona for Culinary School. Evelyn was still working on her Degree in Psychology at New Mexico Tech. They decided to continue the relationship, even though it would be long distance. Diego was still in the New Mexico National Guard, so he had to make the journey from Phoenix to Albuquerque once a month. No matter how much homework Evelyn had, she would drive from Socorro, NM to either pick Diego up from the airport or meet Diego at the hotel room they would rent for the weekend. They would grab dinner, go dancing on occasion, and spend as much time together as they could. Evelyn would drop Diego off at his unit, pick him up, and take him to the airport. This went on for about a year! Diego was able to convince Evelyn to move to AZ with him, she agreed to move in with him, and their life together was in full swing.
