June 2018-- We set the scene in Oakland, California, on the show floor of the bustling San Francisco Comic Con. The convention started as many others for Brandon, who was attending the weekend in full cosplay as a panelist and pop culture aficionado, and Eevee, who was there to scope out costume ideas and geek merch. On this particular day, Brandon was dressed in his iconic “McThor”, a mash-up of Thor and Ronald McDonald, made of his own creation. Eevee, who had attended the previous day in her very first cosplay, The Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok, spotted McThor coming down the aisle of the con floor, and stopped him for a picture. Brandon halted for a quick pose, accustomed to being stopped in his McThor gear. Little did either know that they would be meeting their future soulmate at that moment. Shortly after the convention, Eevee happened upon Brandon’s profile on OkCupid, recognizing him as the handsome Will Riker cosplayer that she had seen from across the room on the first day of the con. Realizing that he and the clown god of thunder she had posed with were one and the same, Eevee decided to take a leap and shoot Brandon a message. Brandon, believing himself to be a major film buff, was charmed up and down by the pretty lady’s ability to keep up with his film and tv references. Their talks went late into each night, night after night, ultimately leading to their first date at a local bowling alley, where each found themselves totally smitten with the other. While the strikes thrown that night were scarce, Brandon and Eevee knew from that moment on that by meeting they had rolled the perfect game; simply meant to be.
