It all started at Waubonsee Community College, where Mitchell was a sophomore on the baseball team and Evelyn was busy juggling volleyball and basketball. They shared a mutual friend group and often found themselves hanging out before or after classes. Thursday Chipotle runs with friends quickly became a weekly tradition, and you could say burrito bowls played a special role in their story. Somewhere between classes and those post practice hangouts, they started meeting up in the field house to shoot around. It was not just about basketball though. There were plenty of games of PIG, 1v1 battles, and three point competitions. Evelyn might say she won more often than Mitchell, though the scorekeeping was always a little questionable. By January 2020, they officially started dating, just before the world shut down. During quarantine, they could not hang out in person, but that did not stop them from growing closer. Their days were filled with long FaceTime calls, staying up past 1 a.m. talking about everything and nothing. From random conversations to sharing their hopes for the future, their love and passion grew into something deeper and more meaningful. After Waubonsee, they both continued their journey at Judson University. Mitchell went to finish his degree, play baseball, and pursue his MBA, and Evelyn earned her degree in Elementary Education. Through classes, practices, and always finding any spare time to spend with each other between classes or practice, whether that was a 15 minute lunch run or a couple of hours just relaxing together, they supported each other every step of the way, building a partnership that went far beyond romance. On July 3rd, 2025, Mitchell proposed in a private and heartfelt moment before they watched fireworks light up the night sky. It was the perfect mix of simple, sweet, and completely them. In October, they took another exciting step in their journey together and welcomed their very first fur baby, Sparty, a yellow lab who quickly stole their hearts. He is the sweetest and most adorable boy you will ever meet, and he has already become such a special part of their little family. Whether it is going on walks, playing fetch, or just cuddling on the couch, life with Sparty has been full of even more love and laughter. Now, as they look ahead to this next chapter, they are continuing to build a life filled with love, support, and plenty of fun along the way. From college athletes to lifelong teammates, their story began with a basketball, a burrito bowl, and a whole lot of love. Through every game, class, and adventure, they have grown together into the team they are today, and they cannot wait to celebrate the start of forever with all of you.
