Patrick and Brooke met on the 2018 campaign trail at a rodeo, of all places, in Stuart, Florida. Patrick was working for a State Senator, while Brooke was managing a State Representative's campaign. The two clicked and became quick friends, helping each other throughout the election cycle as "work colleagues" do. They went their separate ways once the election ended, only to reconnect a few months later in Tallahassee for work. Five and a half years later, they're tying the knot.

Patrick and Brooke were on vacation in Europe with family. Patrick kept the ring hidden for over a week as they traveled from Hungary to Austria to Germany and finally to Italy. Venice, their first stop, is where he popped the question. He proposed on the Venetian island of San Giorgio Maggiore, while a local photographer captured the moment and later took them on a private photo shoot all over the floating city. After the proposal, Brooke and Patrick met her family for a celebratory dinner and continued their travels in Italy.
