How it all came about

1•31•19

Matthew and I have known of eachother for over 6 years. We had only met a few times from Cody bringing him to family gatherings and him coming into the Albertson’s I worked at. It wasn’t until Cody and Kaitlynn’s dinner rehearsal that I got to know Matthew. I remember thinking he was a bit awkward, but there was something really charming about it. We spent the rest of the rehearsal talking to each other about pizza and whether or not pineapple belonged on it. The consesis was yes, yes it does belong on pizza. When I got home my mom told me she thought Matthew might like me. I thought that was ridiculous, I was only Cody’s little sister and that’s weird. But man I couldn’t get him off of my mind. At Cody’s wedding I didn’t know what to say to him so I akwardly told him “You’re next.” with finger guns. He still brings that up to this day. When I got home from the wedding I remembered he had added me on snapchat a few months prior. So I messaged him “Good job not losing the ring” and we have talked every day since. After I had spent the day dramatically listening to love songs by myself in my room. Matthew asked me if I would go on a date with him.

The Proposal

11•16•19

Matthew and I had planned on taking Maverick, our dog, for a hike ever since we adopted him. So a month later we finally took him on one, only Matthew wouldn’t tell me where. I was suspicous that it was going to happen. When we got to Salt Creek Falls, both Matthew and I looked at the view from the above platform before deciding we wanted to go to the pool. We hiked as far down as we could until we realized there was a rock slide and it would be dangerous to go down, especially with an 80 pound dog. After a little while we decided we would try to go a little bit further. After going about 10 feet we decided there was no way Maverick would make it so we turned around. I only took two steps before the soft ground came out from under my feet and I almost went sliding down the side of the hill. Once we were safely back on the path I could tell something was up. There was another couple taking pictures of the waterfall and Matthew kept asking “When are they going to leave?”. After a couple of minutes he started to walk us away from the couple and said “okay over here” and when the couple left he got really excited and took us back to where we were. Matthew proceeded to ask me what I felt were silly questions about if I was willing to put up with his little quirks forever. And then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was beyond excited and couldn’t stop tapping my feet. I obviously without a doubt, said yes.
