How We Met

It started with a text

Trevor and Alexandra were living in separate states when they were introduced by their mutual friends, Sean and Lindsay. The two anticipated a fun adventure in the world of D&D. Instead, they rolled Nat 20s in romance.

His Proposal

16 March 2019

Trevor took me to Nelson’s Ledges for our one year anniversary of dating present. I had just moved to Ohio a month earlier (don’t get us started on that hellacious journey). The area was beautiful and I felt as though we’d found ourselves in the middle of a fantasy novel. Snow and ice still lingered, clinging to rocks and passageways as we explored the area. He lead me down the winding paths to a frozen waterfall. Beyond that was an opening to the base of steep rocks with a small clearing before them. It was there he told me how he felt our relationship reflected this path, highs and lows, twists and turns, and excitement at the root of it all. Trevor said he knew there would be more difficulties ahead of us but that together, he was sure we could overcome every obstacle. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a wooden ring he’d hand crafted and asked me to marry him.

Our Hashtag

#fsoldle

#fsoldle came to be after an unpleasant trip to Virginia needed redeeming. We took a wrong turn which lead to us passing a sign for a Cidery. We decided to go for it! (See Her proposal for more). When we went to leave, we were tired but exceedingly giddy. As we attempted to make our way back to the highway, we were trying to name the mix of emotions we were feeling: euphoric happiness, yearning to explore, a heart full of love and excitement, and a dash of “whatever will be will be”. We decided there was no word and would have to channel Shakespeare to create one of our own. As fate would have it, we finally found our way back to the highway and upon entering, we passed a sign which lead to another breakdown of hysterics due to the lack of proper sleep and serotonin coursing. A “for sale” sign had a small, misfit “sold” sign plastered over it. We both shouted out “fsoldle” and decided that was the term for the giddy, sleep deprived, over the moon happiness we were feeling.
