The E&R journey

From a random but curious ‘Are you rapping?’ to an intentional ‘Can I take you on a date?,’ then ‘I’ll marry you and keep you.’ Now, with love and laughter, we’re stepping into forever-land."

First meeting, first impression & boundary setting: We first met on July 3, 2023. Evans had come to visit his close friend, who lived next door to Rosey. That afternoon, Rosey had just returned from a trip, humming a melody. Evans thought he heard rapping and asked, “Oh wow, are you rapping?” Later that evening, he knocked on her door to ask for her number. From the start, our journey was about boundaries and persistence. Rosey tried to set limits, but Evans didn’t always recognize them. His calls came at odd hours—early mornings after night shifts, evenings before work, or midday during meetings. When calls were discouraged, he switched to texts and voice notes, still determined to stay connected. The turning point: Eventually, we sat down for a real conversation. What began as Rosey’s attempt to push Evans away became the moment we truly began to know each other. Evans revealed patience, intentionality, kindness, consistency, honesty, and a deep prayerfulness. Rosey realized he checked every box—even the ones she hadn’t spoken aloud. Five months later, Evans was already talking about marriage and building a home. Rosey clearly wasn’t ready, but Evans’s commitment was undeniable. When Evans traveled two hours just to officially ask Rosey out on their first date, they both knew this was going somewhere. When Evans asked if Rosey was ready to be his wife, the answer came without hesitation: yes. Yes to forever. Yes to growing together and finding balance in our imperfections. Yes to trusting God and the journey He is preparing for us. Yes to laughter, honesty, consistency, and prayer guiding our steps. What began with a playful question—“Are you rapping?”—has become the most important answer of our lives: yes, for each other, always.
