Shannon and Mitchell first crossed paths in the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes in 2018 . Shannon was a recent transfer student from Radford University and Mitchell was the tuba section leader. They shared common experiences as members of the tuba studio together and were good friends. Yet, as college days faded, so did their proximity. Nearly four years later, Shannon and Mitchell found themselves at the wedding of a mutual friend. From that moment on, Shannon and Mitchell discovered the joy of being in tune with each other's lives and they officially began dating.

Mitchell and Shannon walked hand in hand along the beach at sunset while on vacation in Clearwater, Florida. As they reached a secluded spot, Mitchell dropped to one knee and asked Shannon to marry him. Of course she said yes!
