Travel Note

Planes, Trains*, and Automobiles

The best airport to fly into is Asheville Regional (AVL), which is about 20 minutes south of the city. However, Greenville, SC, (GSP) is just over an hour away and Charlotte (CLT) about two, so there are options if the local airport is too pricey. All the car-sharing apps are active in Asheville, so it is relatively inexpensive to get around once you are here. There is also a bus system in Asheville called Asheville Rides Transit (ART). Each ride is $1 cash paid on the bus. Maps and schedules are here: https://www.ashevillenc.gov/service/transit-maps-schedules/ *There are no trains.

Places to Stay

We recommend you look into the short term rental (airbnb, homeaway, vrbo, etc.). Many of them disappeared when the pandemic started, but they are starting to come back online. Note that Asheville does not allow whole-house short-term rentals within city limits. Hotels are also be a good option in April. We have a special room rate of $179/night at the DoubleTree by Hilton Asheville Biltmore. You can book here (https://www.hilton.com/en/attend-my-event/avlbmdt-acw-ed35c2c0-4457-4f65-aeb3-5252a7dcabff/) or by calling 828-274-1800 (ask for the Auer/Couzo wedding). Book by 3/25 to guarantee the group rate.
