Take a walk on Rio Grande Trail
The Rio Grande Trail is an easy trail you can walk, hike, run and bike that is dog-friendly. The trail follows the corridor of the historic Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, whose first train reached Aspen in October 1887.
Hike the Grottos
The Grottos Trail is an easy and short 0.6 mile hiking loop trail that features a waterfall, beautiful rock formations and a cave and is good for all skill levels.
Hunters Creek trail to Smuggler mountain trail
Lower Hunter Creek Trail is a 1.7 mile trail that features a river and is good for all skill levels and connects to Smuggler trail with a beautiful viewing deck above the town. The round trip takes about 5 miles in 2h. Bring water and energy bar.
Maroon Bells
Maroon Bells Scenic Loop Trail is a 1.9 mile loop trail that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. There is a bus that takes you up to the start of the trail. Bring water and snacks...and a camera!
Lost Man Loop Trail
Lost Man Trail is a 7 mile point-to-point trail that features a lake and is rated as difficult, it takes about 2h to finish. Bring water, snacks and a lightweight jacket in case it rains.
Midway Pass Hike

Independence Pass
If you'll be driving from Denver airport this will be on the way. It's a beautiful scenic route that is just asking you to stop, get out of the car and take some pictures. You'll be driving through the town of Leadville which contains many historic structures and sites in its dynamic mining era. Stop at the "City on a Hill" Coffee shop to get some drinks and homemade goods and if you have time stop at some amazing thrift shops for vintage treasures.
Take a bike ride
There are plenty of beautiful bike rides around Aspen like Mclain Flats, Ashcroft, Maroon Bells and Snowmass. Most of them are moderate to difficult so it's good to have a chat beforehand with the local bike tour guide mr. Ron Schreiber, he will advise what's the best ride to take.
Go Downhill Mountain Biking
A 3,000 vertical feet of purpose-built downhill trails Snowmass Bike Park is located in Snowmass Village. Come cruise through the forests and meadows and see for yourself.
