It was a fateful day in the summer of 2013 when I received the message on OK Cupid (online dating app) from Evan. His message explained his jealousy about my meeting Ted Nugent. I had shared my "something most people don't know about me" on my profile that I was camper of the week at Ted Nugent's Camp for Kids when I was twelve. I then went onto explain that I out-shot him on the archery range. And apparently, it's a good thing I did. We carried on for a while back and forth, but it just so happened to be about a week before I was leaving for Africa for about 20 days. Needless to say, I had a lot going on. I thought he was cute and made a mental note to follow up once I got back home. Fast forward about a month, I'm home after an incredible life changing experience. Eventually, I decided to get back on the app and admittedly totally forgot about my dear Evan. For about the first 6 months of our relationship I always thought I was the first to message him. See for whatever reason, our message history didn't pop up when I found this tall drink of water (again) on the dating app. I messaged him, likely something corny, and the rest is history. What I didn't realize is this was the same person as before Africa. One day Evan and I were asked who initiated the conversation first. We both confidently said, "I did". In order to solve this mystery, we signed back into the app and sure enough, further down on the page, was our Ted Nugent message that I clearly did not make enough of a mental note about, because I forgot it happened. Being that it didn't pop back up when I went to message him again (which was normally the case), I suppose we were both right in responding "I did" as the first to message. Fast forward 6 years and now we're both going to be saying "I do"! (see what I did there) ;)
