ln April of 2019, our dear friends Lindsay and James invited us each over to their apartment. Upon arrival, we were both surprised to see a table set for four. Almost immediately into our dinner conversation, Sasha proclaimed that our shared Austrian heritage must mean we’re cousins (GASP!), and Evan shared his favorite knee slappers about his medical school cadaver lab. It was instant chemistry! A week later, after combing through the past 200 years of recorded genealogy and finding no Beders or Schenkers, Evan thought it safe to ask Sasha out on a first date. And our relationship began! We met in Brooklyn on weekends, enjoying each other’s company at the Brooklyn museum, Prospect Park and at nearly every restaurant in the borough. When COVID-19 hit, and remote work was in fashion, Sasha schlepped out to Long Island so we could spend the pandemic together. Our long work days were punctuated by shared meals, walks in the park and weekend trips in the woods, on the beach, and at hotels we couldn’t afford (but life is short!). We loved each other's families, spending decadent summers together in the South of France or catching a cool breeze by Whaley Lake. And we could not resist the call to Zabar’s for any longer – and we officially moved into the Upper West Side together, where the proximity forced by our miniature Manhattan apartment helped us fall even more deeply in love. We are so excited to get married and celebrate with you!
