If you’re reading this, you either haven’t yet had the distinct pleasure of listening to Evan and Nicole recount their meet-cute OR you were just curious and/or bored enough to scroll all the way down this tab. In either case, Nicole thanks you for taking the time to read it because Lord knows she spent way too much of hers writing this. It was a warm and windy October evening at the Home Depot where Evan was tasked with holding down the fort (aka the hardware section) and Nicole was a blissfully unaware cashier. As Evan quite literally skied past her—he dressed up as a ski instructor for Halloween—Nicole couldn’t help but giggle at the (very) tall and handsome man who was clearly not dressed for a California fall. Soon, lunch breaks and long walks home were filled with laughter as the two became fast friends. And by Thanksgiving, Evan had already accidentally locked them out of her house and then broke into said house to save the night (only one window screen needed replacing and no locksmiths had to be called). And it was surprisingly in that moment, Nicole knew that Evan would do whatever it took to make her happy and keep her safe. Spoiler alert, but one year morphed into nine and they traded San Luis Obispo for San Diego. Somewhere along the way, they acquired a cat named Milo and have started to build their little life together in good old Chula Vista. Along with frequent trips to visit family and friends (all of you guys!) throughout the West Coast, they eventually made their way halfway across the world to New Zealand where Evan found the sweetest little grassy knoll overlooking the sunset in the Bay of Islands and professed his undying desire to be Nicole’s husband. She said “duh, of course” and here we are wanting to celebrate us GETTING MARRIED with all of our favorite people. Cheers to that and thank you again to anyone who actually read this!! – Love, Evan + Nicole
