Travel Note

WHERE TO STAY

Guests, we want to thank you for traveling to D.C. – where we have made our home for the past eight years – to celebrate this special day with us. On this page you will find booking information for the hotel we are staying at, the Hilton Garden Inn on Capitol Hill, along with several hotel options which are also very close to where our Welcome Gathering will be on Friday night, at Red Bear Brewing in the NoMa neighborhood. At the hyperlink below, you will find a highlighted map containing the parts of the city we think are most convenient to stay in while you’re here – NoMa, H Street, and our neighborhood, Capitol Hill. Whether you stay at a hotel, Airbnb, or VRBO, staying in these areas should offer you a convenient Uber or Lyft to the venue while situating you in fun neighborhoods with easy Metro access to DC's biggest attractions, including the Capitol Building, the White House, museums, and the monuments. We want to be very clear: everyone has different considerations to account for, and there is absolutely no expectation from us that you will stay in this specific area while you’re here to celebrate. D.C. is a very ride-share and transit-friendly city, regardless of where you’re staying. Other areas we’d recommend staying near include the White House (Penn Quarter, Chinatown), Georgetown, Silver Spring, and College Park.

Train

Metro & Bus

Metro is an easy and affordable way to get around the city! Your phone maps should be pretty accurate with routes, or you can use WMATA’s Trip Planner function linked here.

Flight

Regan National Airport (DCA)

DC has multiple airports nearby, but DCA is definitely the easiest one to navigate and is only a short car ride away from our recommended hotels & the venue.

Flight

Dulles International Airport (IAD)

If you fly into this airport PLEASE double check that your plane ticket isn’t to Dallas, Texas! If you aren’t renting a car, we recommend you take the Silver Line metro into the city — it will be much cheaper than a taxi and take roughly the same amount of time.

Flight

Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)

If you aren’t renting a car, we recommend you take the Amtrak or MARC train into the city — it will be much cheaper than a taxi and take roughly the same amount of time.

For all the days along the way
