How we met

He picked her up on the side of the street

The afternoon before we started the very first day, of our very first semester as freshmen at the University of Kentucky, Lacey decided to go out to her car and get a pack of water for her dorm. Right as she was getting onto the sidewalk, there was a cute guy walking about 10 feet in front of her as the two smaller sidewalks combined. Evan noticed her, turned and started walking backward, and waved with a cute little smile. Lacey thought it was a cute little gesture, so she waved back. She started talking to him, and they walked together since he was headed in the same direction. While they walked together, they got to talking, and the rest is history!

How Evan proposed

On the street... same way we met

After a fun day of shopping for our Matron of Honor's engagement party, and a week after their 2 year anniversary, Lacey drove up to Evan's house so we could get all of our things ready. When we got into the house so Evan could pack, he asked Lacey to pack for him while he dealt with "a Christmas present." After sneaking around weirdly, we were finally ready to get our things and ourselves in the car to spend the first night away in Nashville with Evan's dad Andrew and April. Lacey was sitting in the car waiting, while Evan was going in and out (trying to figure out how to get me out of the car), and eventually, Evan asked, "Do you think Brooke and Sam would want a speaker at the party?" Lacey thought that could be a good idea since she was the Maid of Honor and said "I'll ask." After one more trip back inside to get the speaker, Evan asked Lacey to check the speaker and make sure there weren't any cracks or scratches (that's another story). Lacey, knowing how incredibly OCD Evan can be, really took her time and was thoroughly and attentively checking the speaker the way she knew Evan would want. "I think it looks good... I don't see anything." And then she looked to the left, and there Evan was with the PERFECT ring!
