Who would have thought that two people 12,000 km apart could have found each other, fell in love and now are planning to enter the holy sacrament of marriage? Gellian and Evan had not ever imagined their love story to turn out this way. Praise God! They both live in the internet era where distance is just a number. Just before Gellian's CatholicMatch subscription ended, a message popped out of nowhere from Evan who happened to live in the US. “Well, he’s cute! Too bad he lives so far away!”, Gellian thought. Regardless of this initial impression, she still gave it a go and messaged him back. Somehow, they built an instant connection, continued talking and got to know each other really well. Over time, their bond deepened through their constant interactions and prayers. Despite the 19-hour time difference, they managed to make time for each other, especially Evan who would stay up very late until 2 AM to spend quality time with Gellian. It made it feel as if they were living at the same time zone. On the 1st of December 2024, Gellian and Evan felt how God had guided them to commit to their relationship despite the uncertainty that the future held. They believed these uncertainties would allow God's grace to work in their lives. On Christmas day last year, Gellian thought it would be great to visit Evan in the US and see him in person to really get to know him better. On the 16th of February 2025, they finally met each other at LAX airport. It was a very joyful and special moment - the very first time they were able to feel each other’s embrace. They made their way to Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in LA to attend Mass. When Gellian finished saying her prayers after Mass, Evan was sitting next to her in the church pew with a ring in his hands. They looked at each other, knowing exactly what each other was about to say. “Will you marry me?”, Evan asked. “I will!”, Gellian answered without hesitation. Very gently, Evan placed the mystical rose ring that had been blessed into Gellian’s finger. The mystical rose ring that held a dear meaning for both of them as it was one of the titles of Our Lady. It fits perfectly! As if Gellian let Evan knew what her ring size was! ;) With God’s grace, Archbishop Jose Gomez of LA gave them the blessing for their engagement, a step closer to marriage which will be their vessel through this life into Heaven. Having the Jubilee Year of Hope this year 2025, Gellian and Evan decided to celebrate their wedding day in August, a special month dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Blessed Mother.
