Gorgeous historic library & reading room. If you're looking for a moment of quiet (perhaps after visiting one of the bookshops mentioned here), this is the place.
🤘 (chill record shop, run by a guy who used to live in Richmond VA! Fran once asked what they were playing and was told it was Metallica. Oops.)
Ev's favorite bookshop in Providence.
Right down the road from Paper Nautilus - another nice spot to browse.
Fran's favorite bookshop in Providence.
Lovely wee 'hidden' bar (it doesn't look like anything from the outside - yes, you've got the right address). Excellent cocktails and bar snacks, chill vibe, outdoor seating available.
Ev's fave bar in town - low-key, scruffy, friendly place. Plastic flamingos and Narragansett beer.
Very good soft pretzel sandwiches (with gluten-free options!). Makes an excellent breakfast/lunch/brunch takeout option - our go-to easy meal in the city.
Truly excellent Syrian food. Still our favorite place to eat in the city.
More good coffee, in a funky wee shop.
Tiny queer gallery-and-cafe co-op. Come for the sandwiches, stay for the knitting circle.
Great takeout breakfast spot, though it gets super busy on the weekend. Order ahead!
No-frills neighborhood deli (that used to be our local). Good sandwiches.
When we lived in Providence, the raccoons used to congregate in our driveway every night. Mostly because KNEAD Doughnuts' garbage bins were behind our driveway. Point is, the raccoons have good taste. Friendly doughnut shop with vegan and gf options.
There's a bunch of these across the city - good coffee and baked goods, for all your snacking needs.
Busy city park - a great place to eat a takeout lunch and enjoy the waterfront.
Nice wee green space near the river - good for a stroll.
