It was December 2017 and Evan and his best man Lucas were starting a ski lease in Tahoe. After assembling a great group of friends, they were still looking for one or two more people to round out the house. Luckily Estelle was looking for a ski lease too, and thanks to mutual friend Jen Cohen, Estelle soon joined! It wasn't long before Evan was falling for the bubbly, cute, outgoing Estelle, but of course she had no idea. Soon enough Evan was seeing Estelle in San Francisco, including a "first date" watching Mulan - Estelle just thought Evan really liked the movie, followed by a proper first date at a local restaurant. We kissed that night (Estelle was shocked), and have been together happily ever since!

When COVID hit in March of 2020, it became clear to Evan that he would have to scrap his planned proposal. A full plan was in the works - Estelle's close friend Raj helped Evan plan an elaborate proposal with family flying in from across the country to participate in an engagement dinner & party at lakeside Tahoe restaurant Gar Woods, with the engagement on the pier at sunset. Instead, Evan and Estelle were hunkered down in the ski lease in Tahoe with their friends. As the months rolled by, Estelle was called up to guard while Lucas began looking at houses. Soon enough a house was purchased, and the move in date was scheduled - August 1. The week before Evan, Estelle, and Lucas packed everything into a UHaul and drove up to Tahoe to get ready for the move in. Aha, Evan thought, there is no way Estelle will suspect an engagement when we are living out of a UHaul! He was right. Evan, Brynna, and Lucas concocted a story (and created supporting evidence): Evan and Estelle were to meet his boss & boss's wife for cocktails at Jake's on the Lake. The boss, needless to say, didn't show up, and Evan walked / dragged / begged Estelle to head to a local pier. A photographer was waiting to capture the moment, and she said yes! Lucas delivered champagne to the pier, and the next day Evan, Estelle, Lucas, and the rest of the Tahoe crew started a new chapter at 520 Bunker Drive.
