Please wear semi-formal or cocktail attire. For gentlemen, this includes a suit and tie or a sports coat and slacks. For ladies, we suggest a cocktail dress, a dressy suit, or a jumpsuit.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

We adore ALL your children! You are more than welcome to bring your children to the nuptial mass; however, we ask that you do not bring your little ones to the reception unless their names are formally listed on the invitation. We appreciate your understanding and cannot wait to celebrate with you!

Question

How far is the reception venue from the Church?

Answer

The reception venue, Le Lieu, is about forty-five minutes from the Church, St. Anthony of Padua. There will be more than enough time for each guest to arrive at Le Lieu before the reception begins at 3 pm. We cannot wait!

Question

What is the meaning of a Catholic Nuptial Mass?

Answer

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is where heaven meets Earth. Because Christians have been celebrating Mass since the Last Supper, you’ll get to take part in something that has lasted almost 2,000 years when you come to our wedding! The first part of Mass, The Liturgy of the Word, consists of passages from Sacred Scripture proclaimed in front of the church. After the Gospel reading, the homily will be given by Father Mathew. He might explain a bit more about one of the readings, or about the Sacrament of Matrimony itself. Then, we'll state our vows and exchange our rings. At this point, we are officially married! We'll then get to enter into the second part of the Mass, The Liturgy of the Eucharist, as husband and wife for the first time. During the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the priests consecrate the host into the literal Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Yes, the Eucharist still looks, tastes, smells, and sounds like bread. However, through the power of God, the very substance of the bread has been transformed. This means that it is the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus that we consume when we take and eat the Eucharist during communion. This might seem like a difficult concept! Indeed, even some of Jesus' own disciples were baffled when they first heard this. In John 6:55, Jesus affirmed that "[His] flesh is true food, and [His] blood is true drink." At the Last Supper, Jesus showed us exactly where to eat His flesh after he consecrated the bread into His body! He then commanded us Christians to "do this in memory of [Him]" (Luke 22:19). We believe the ultimate showing of love was when Jesus gave His life for us on the Cross, and when he gave us His Body at the Last Supper. The Catholic Mass is how we worship the Lord who loved us so much that He died for us. We are so excited to welcome you to witness the beautiful Sacrament with us at St. Anthony of Padua for our Nuptial Mass! If you’re still curious, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
