No! Hotels are definitely optional, as for larger groups traveling together, an AirBnB or VRBO may be more appropriate. Everything is relatively close together (~30 min).

Yes, alcohol will be provided at the reception (beer, wine, champagne) for guests 21+. No outside alcohol is allowed, otherwise you will receive the fine charged by the venue.
