Evan and Corrina met at Hume Lake Christian Camps and began dating 10 months later. During that 10 months they were friends. While Evan protected Corrina's heart knowing they were not yet dating; their interactions were brief and intentional for the majority of their friendship. In May of 2020, Evan began reaching out and talking to Corrina more with the intention of pursuing a relationship. They both wanted to honor God in their relationship and took time with Him before choosing to step into it. Evan asked permission from Corrina's mother, Tamara, before asking Corrina to be his girlfriend on June 4th of 2020.
Long distance proved to be difficult, Evan living in Truckee and Corrina in Elk Grove. The beginning of their relationship had bumps and bruises while they learned to communicate better and honor God with every step of their relationship. And on top of that, dating in a global pandemic is difficult. Some dates included outdoor dining in December in Truckee (which is very cold), going on walks, and watching movies. It took nearly a year for them to learn better communication and to love each other well. But if you ask either of them, that difficulty was worth it. They both passionately strive for unconditional love; the love the Lord shows us. Unconditional love, for this couple, includes choosing each other's mess despite not yet having a covenant. Choosing to love each other while not being blind to the brokenness of our partner, is something they work toward every day. The testimony of this relationship points toward Jesus. If you do not yet know him, He is the perfect redeemer and reconciles the brokenness with us. Evan and Corrina are dedicated completely to Him before one another. He is the reason they lasted through the hard and became an even stronger couple because of it.
