For guests traveling from the U.S., the closest airport is Edinburgh Airport (EDI) — about a 25-minute drive from Melville Castle. Scotland is a driveable country, if you're looking to explore more you can consider flying into Glasgow International Airport (an hour and fifteen minutes from Melville Castle) or Aberdeen International Airport which is about 2 and a half hours away. Taxis and Ubers are easy to find, public transportation is a great option, or you can rent a car.
If you’re coming from the U.S., you’ll need a valid passport and it must be valid for the entire duration of your stay. In addition, most U.S. citizens must obtain a UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in the U.K. (this is not a visa but a required digital travel permit for short visits). For full details on entry requirements, passport rules, and how to apply for the ETA, please visit the official UK government travel page: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
We recommend booking early — July is a popular time to visit Scotland! Our wedding also coincides with the Scottish Open which means early booking can help you plan more efficiently.
Our ceremony will be indoors and dinner/reception will be in a marquee.
Scottish summers are mild — usually between 60–70°F (15–21°C). Expect a mix of sunshine and light rain. Pack layers!
