In 2010, we were both attending college at Taft College. We noticed each other independently in the cafeteria and soon exchanged numbers and arranged to have our group of friends all go out together (no pressure)! This soon led to our first date..Evan asked Caroline of course, with a suave lead-in line "Hey I think you're really cute, do you want to go out"? To which Caroline replied "I think you're cute too, of course we can go out". After passing the pedestrian safety test offered by our school, we walked into town together to The Original Hacienda Grill. We bonded over burritos and quesadillas and Evan took care of the bill. Evan recalls telling his mom when he first arrived at school, "I'm going to meet the girl of my dreams". On day three, after meeting Caroline, he followed up with "I met her"! The rest, as they say...is history.
Picture this: Caroline's 28th birthday, April 28th, 2017. We'd planned an independent weekend trip to Disneyland. We took the train and were staying at the Best Western nearby. Day 1 at the park and Disney was celebrating the diamond anniversary of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. For some reason (wink) Evan was very motivated to see the castle on this day. When we arrived at the enchanted location, Evan got down on one knee and proclaimed, "Babe, I really love you and we've been together a long time...will you marry me"? He presented the ring his Grandmother helped him pick out. "Yes!" was Caroline's answer and we took off to get Caroline's Disney engagement pin. We celebrated over dinner at The Blue Bayou and can't wait to receive our honeymoon pin when we visit Disney World!
