It all started in 2018, during a comedy writing class—because of course it did. We hadn’t even met yet when Evan showed up at Caitlin’s apartment to write a sketch together. She made him laugh. He made her laugh. At one point, Caitlin pitched a joke and Evan turned to her and said "that's REALLY funny". Once Evan left, Caitlin turned to herself and thought: “Did I just meet my husband?” We flirted through every class and rehearsal, and when it came time to perform our sketch together, the chemistry was undeniable. A couple weeks later at a friend’s birthday party, Evan—nervous but determined—tried to get Caitlin an Uber home so he could kiss her. What actually happened was… he panicked and kissed her in the Uber, car running, driver watching. And somehow, that was the beginning of everything. We started dating and quickly fell into our own little rhythm—binge-watching our favorite shows, sharing ice cream, and sprawling out on Evan’s beloved Ikea couch that turned into a bed (the pinnacle of romance). But soon, life took us into long-distance territory. Evan moved to Atlanta to finish his arts program at SCAD, and we took a cross-country road trip to get him there. That’s when Caitlin met Arya, Evan’s sweet angel of a dog—who is now our sweet angel of a dog. Two years of long distance followed. Between endless FaceTimes and carefully planned visits, we did the hard work of staying connected, even when it wasn’t easy. When COVID hit, we found ourselves apart again—Evan in Texas with his family, Caitlin in LA with hers. With no idea when we’d see each other again, Caitlin booked a last-minute one-way flight in the middle of the night. We finally closed the long distance gap for good and haven't left each other's side since. We’ve traveled far (literally and figuratively), supported each other through family loss, career highs and lows, and all the unexpected twists of growing together. In 2024, we bought our first home, welcomed our second dog Beau—who instantly became the most chaotic and perfect addition to our family—and then, on New Year’s Eve, Evan proposed in our kitchen while Caitlin was wearing Birkenstocks. (Evan was wearing sweatpants. But he’d like it known: they were very expensive sweatpants.) Now, after everything we’ve been through and accomplished together, we’re so excited to step into the next chapter of our lives—surrounded by the people we love, blending our two families into one, and promising to keep laughing, keep loving, and keep choosing each other.
