The Texas State Fair in Dallas is a massive, three-week event (Sept. 26-Oct. 19 2025) celebrating Texas culture with food, rides, and entertainment. Big Tex, a 55-ft talking cowboy, greets visitors. Attractions include the Midway with carnival rides/rollercoasters, shopping, live music, rodeos, livestock shows, the Texas Auto Show and the Texas Skyway. The fair is best known for its wild fried foods, including Fried Butter, Funnel Cake Cheeseburgers, Deep-Fried Cheesecake on a Stick, Fried Jell-O, and Corny Dogs (a Texas staple). Other must-tries are Texas-sized turkey legs, Fried Thanksgiving Dinner, Deep Fried Seafood Gumbo Balls, Ox’cellent Soul Rolls and even Fried Beer.
