It was a perfectly ordinary Tuesday afternoon when Beca Yohros and Evan Raskin’s worlds collided in the most romantic place imaginable: the laundry room of the Winthrop Condominium. Total strangers, both in full pajama attire, they arrived at the washers at the exact same time. Evan—like many people in 2022—was wearing an N95 mask, which Beca immediately clocked as “somewhat mysterious and kinda hot,” so she struck up a conversation. Evan, completely unprepared for Beca’s confidence and stunning presence, became so nervous that he dropped his phone on the floor… twice. Mortified, he promptly fled up the stairs, possibly assuming he would never see her again. But fate (or the spin cycle) had other plans. Later that same day, the stars aligned and they ran into each other again. This time, Evan brought backup—his friend Spencer. Seeing her moment, Beca casually asked for both of their phone numbers. New to the city and feeling bold, she texted them separately and invited them over for a “home-cooked dinner.” That dinner turned out to be boxed mac and cheese. And luckily for everyone involved (especially Evan), Spencer was home sick with food poisoning, leaving Beca and Evan alone. They talked for hours, she put him to work hanging a curtain, and they watched a scary movie. No kissing involved. Very wholesome. The rest, as they say, is truly history 💛
