It is crazy how the Lord works. Evan & I first became friends in high school. We knew each other as the swimmer and the diver both recruited for West Point. A vivid memory I had was the night before my Prom when my sister had invited Evan & other friends over. I went out to the backyard to grab some food & somehow got caught up in a conversation with Evan. This was the first glimpse of how Evan would encourage me in our relationship. I remember spewing my worries at him regarding West Point, the team, etc. In response to all that… Evan laughed at me! But, he also comforted and reminded me that the Lord was with me & that He had a plan for me. Little did I know, that plan would include Evan! Fast forward to our freshman year. Being on the same team, Evan and I bonded and our friendship grew. He became one of my best friends that year and with prayer & peace, we decided to pursue a relationship.3 years later, we have been on a journey that has been nothing but eventful & full of growth. On August 22, 2021 my friends took me to have a girls day which involved tacos and nails. Knowing I couldn’t resist, they proposed the idea to tour the Untermyer Park & Garden just conveniently 10 minutes away. Right before we entered, my friends handed me a note. On the pink slip was Evan’s neat small bubbly writing explaining to me what was about to happen. He had set up several scenic stops where my family and close friends awaited to surprise me with flowers & a note from him. The final stop was the bottom of a grand staircase that overlooked the river. And there he was, with all the senior guys from our team standing with red roses.It felt like a scene from The Bachelor. As soon as he proposed, the tears waterfalled down my face and joy filled the air. We are beyond thankful for this season in our lives & we cherish every moment that has led us to this point. But now, we are also excited to start the new chapter in our lives with you all!
