On March 11th of 2021, our Baptist Campus Ministry enjoyed a group hike at The Gorge. Now and then Evan could be seen climbing things and running around, he was full of energy, leaving me curious as to who he was and if he was with our group. I still remember a moment when he jumped out of a tree practically on top of me, startling me. Post-hike, everyone went to Miguel’s Pizza and we sat at the same table. I had been discussing music with a friend and Evan overheard my love for “If I Go, I’m Goin’” by Gregory Alan Isakov. He practically exploded out of his seat to proclaim (yell) that he shared the same adoration for this obscure song and that he could play it on the guitar. From there on out we connected through our love for Jesus, Music, humor, conversations that felt so natural, and much more. He recently took me back to The Gorge to propose, although this time we were thousands of feet above the ground in a plane, flown by Evan himself. The easiest yes ever! -Abby
