We're Getting Married!

Shayna and Evan met during veterinary school on the Caribbean Island, Grenada. It may seem unlikely to come across the love of your life on an island 2,000 miles from home, but they were not about to question it. They met through mutual friends and then 'love at first sight' became real. They quickly connected over their love of working out, food, and of course, cats. They became workout partners and used each workout as an opportunity to impress one another. Together Shayna and Evan would plan out what fast food joints they would visit the moment they got back to the States. During their study breaks Evan would try his hardest to win over Shayna's beloved cat, Salem. Luckily, it didn't take too long, and once Salem had accepted Evan, the rest is history. As the relationship blossomed and the semester was coming to an end in the Caribbean, they couldn't wait to get home and introduce each other to their friends and family. During their first date in the States, Shayna took Evan to New York City for the second time in his life and showed him around her favorite spots in Central Park with her sister and brother-in-law. Seeing how easily they fit into each others' lives, their love only continued to grow and knew they wanted to share the rest of their lives together.

Prior to the proposal, Shayna had a feeling that a random trip to New York on a rainy day to hangout with Marnie and Harrison was a bit unusual. Especially because it had only been one week after spending time with them in California. At this point, Shayna also knew that Evan had a ring hiding somewhere in the Philly apartment. Once Shayna seemed a bit too excited for the trip, Evan decided to hide the interior box with the ring in his backpack prior to leaving. He then showed Shayna the exterior box (unknown to Shayna that it was empty) and voiced that he did not want to ruin this trip by leading her on in thinking it would end in an engagement. As good as Shayna is in predicting and ruining every crime movie they watch, she fell for the trick. On a beautiful, rainy day in Central Park, Evan got down on his knee in the wet mud in front of a secluded spot in front of a lake. Shayna was absolutely stunned and in disbelief that she had fallen for his trick. The moment was more special than either of them could have hoped for.
