Taylor asked me to get my nails done because she had an event she was going to. I said no at first because I had some stuff to do my own Halloween nails at home. Eventually, I agreed to go. She said we could have a girls day! I told Evan we would be home by 3 so we could go on our double date we had planned a few days back. Luna was going to come to a brewery with us. My timing was completely incorrect. We didn't leave the store until 3 and still had another 20 minute drive home. Evan decided that it was not the best idea to bring Luna with us to the place. I said that it would be good mental exercise for her. He compromised by suggesting we could just take her for a quick walk before, knowing that I would agree to it. When we went on our walk, Evan and Taylor were talking about finding a place with colorful leaves so Taylor and I could get cute pictures together. I was ready to be done with the walk. I had pointed out a few different places. I was cold and had to use the restroom and still wasn't feeling 100%. We found a good (enough) spot. We took some pictures, then Taylor and Nate took some. Then I did not like my hair so we had to take new ones. Evan wanted Luna in some more pictures too. He said we should kneel down to her level for some pictures. When I looked over, he was holding up a ring and saying some words. I heard nothing he said other than Aubrey Ann. I promise he said more than that. Just don't ask me what else he said. I was lost for words and only nodded yes. The first words out of my mouth were "Where's the dog?" and then "you asked my parents, right?" The dog was safe. My parents were asked. Evan said I tried everything in my power to ruin this proposal.
Our first real date consisted of us going for a walk on Kent trails. At the time Evan lived just off the trails, and Aubrey used to bike down the trails as a kid. Neither one of us expected to walk very far because we did not wear good walking shoes. We ended up walking all the way down to the ice cream shop at the end of the trails. We did not in fact get ice cream. The shop only took cash and we did not bring any cash. We turned around and walked back to his house. The trip in total was about 8 miles long. It was a very long walk and yet felt like time flew right by. During that walk we talked and got to know each other. We became inseparable after that day.
