Aiden and Evalyn met at their campus job at the start of September 2023, where they worked multiple shifts together. The two started talking, and Aiden soon got Evalyn's Instagram and asked her out on a date. They went to an antique mall to dig for vinyl records, where they shared funny stories and music preferences. After the antique mall, Aiden invited Evalyn to go to a haunted house with him and his friends that night. However, Evalyn had an entire paper to write that evening. Desperately wanting to continue the date, though, she sat down and wrote all six pages in less than two hours (she got an A on that paper, by the way). Aiden guided Evalyn through any sections of the haunted house that had flashing lights while she covered her eyes (she has epilepsy), and overall, the date went wonderfully.
After a long school year, Aiden and Evalyn decided to take a day trip to Arches National Park, a three-hour drive from Provo. With minimal planning and two lightly packed bags, they drove down to Moab and spent the day hiking in sporadic rainfall and uncomfortably strong winds. Some of the highlights included homemade onigiri at Delicate Arch and watching the sun set over Balanced Rock. On this trip, they both realized: They had a pretty great thing going on.
In the summer, after a long two months of distance, Evalyn came out to South Carolina to meet Aiden's family. Over the course of Evalyn's month-long stay, the two made many great memories on the east coast, especially loving the food in Charleston, Atlanta, Asheville, and of course, Greenville.
Aiden and Evalyn began the next summer with a trip to Yreka. They went hiking along the Sacramento River, took a trip to Crater Lake National Park for Evalyn's birthday, and spent many warm nights playing with Evalyn's cats outside. On this trip, Aiden asked Evalyn's parents for her hand in marriage.
On their two-year anniversary, Aiden planned an elaborate date: a nostalgic "greatest hits" trip through their first two years together. It began with a Kolache breakfast in downtown Provo, then a stroll around the antique mall where they'd had their first date. They drove up to Ogden and played disc golf, which was a hobby they'd picked up together. Next was a scenic drive down "the long way" back to Provo, through Park City and Provo Canyon. They stopped at a park along the way, where they'd shared many prior adventures. Then, Aiden led Evalyn off the path, into a little clearing by a stream, and asked her to marry him.
