Their story began in a mega church. It may sound cliché but in a church full of thousands, they found each other at the right time. They were both brought to the Brooklyn Tabernacle by the people they were dating at the time (crazy right?! You never know who God will use), as they were both looking for a home church. Out of the many ministries available, they both joined MVMNT (movement), the young adult ministry. Taking it a step further, they happened to serve on the same team within the same ministry! During a team fellowship at Hugh & Kendra's place, Evadne was sitting on the couch when Virgil walked in. Here walked in this tall, dark and handsome guy, dressed in a suit and tie with his then infamous flat cap hat. He had just gotten off work. After the fellowship, her best friend Tayo struck up a conversation with him and found out that he was into photography. Evadne was a model, can't make this up! He introduced himself to Tayo as David, his middle name, but in church and other formal settings he went by Virgil. Later that evening, she sent him a DM (Instagram's direct messaging system) just out of curiosity and asked "Is your name Virgil or David?". From there on out, their friendship blossomed. Evadne even went as far as setting up a reverse prank introducing him to her mother as her boyfriend (V: she was planting the seed y'all!! E: he believes I did but no lol). From photoshoots to group hangouts, they were always around each other. Time passed and they had gotten closer. They talked, laughed and hung out often. They became so comfortable around one another and developed such a friendship that when one was gone on a trip the other ended up missing them. During a gym session, Virgil spoke to CJ about her, describing her as one he thought was just a friend (yeah ok!). CJ's response was, "sooo y'all talk everyday, sometimes late at night, you think she's beautiful, smart, really cool with a kind heart and love for God... Hmm, sooo why aren't you dating her?" (appreciate you CJ). It then dawned on Virgil, like yeah why not?! Virgil then started courting Evadne. They went on dates and talked more often if that were even possible. Virgil knew she was feeling him but she didn't want to reveal it just yet as she was guarding her heart. As time went on and the two grew closer, she finally admitted her feelings and Virgil asked her out. They made it official on the 4th of July in 2018. Allow us to take this time to emphasize one thing. None of this would have happened, if we hadn't been obedient to God and started serving Him. There is so much more to our story that wouldn't fit on one page, but if you're reading this, we want to truly encourage you to trust and seek Him. Only when you let go and learn to release control of your own life and destiny, God will truly manifest Himself in it. His plan and His timing supersedes ours. We aren't perfect but we were perfectly matched, and this wasn't by luck. God did! On the first day of 2022, Virgil made one of the most important resolutions of his life: to ask for Evadne’s hand in marriage. It happened at the Rockefeller Center skating rink. Virgil got down on one knee, on ice skates (which he doesn't fancy like she does) and proposed to her in front of her friends, her family, their pastor and dozens of strangers clapping and cheering. In a church full of thousands, they found their one in a million.
