The story of Eva and Nikhil meeting involves an ambulance, a grumpy paramedic, a bubbly EMT, and sleep deprivation! In Winter 2021 Eva and Nikhil found themselves partnered on ambulance 144 in the City of Charlottesville. Eva wasn’t thrilled to have a “grumpy old guy” harshing her vibes, and Nikhil wasn’t thrilled that his partner was inexperienced and could barely see over the steering wheel. To strike up conversation, Eva began chatting about how much she loved driving ambulances. In his moodiness and a very flat voice, Nikhil told her he used to like it but he has had too many friends hurt in crashes so it no longer appeals to him. Strong start, Nikhil. As Nikhil and Eva continued to run into each other on shift, they began to chat more and more. Both Eva and Nikhil served at the local rescue station, but they also both worked for UVA Health System. Eva worked in the Emergency Department, while Nikhil was a flight paramedic on the neonatal transport team. They frequently crossed paths in the ED, but Nikhil was always too hesitant to ask Eva out for a variety of different excuses. Ultimately, one of Nikhil’s coworkers (Dave) finally told him that if he didn’t ask Eva out, he would make sure somebody else did! The very night Dave uttered those words, Nikhil asked Eva out to breakfast after their night shifts, and the rest is history. Many Star Wars marathons, bouquets of flowers, local restaurants, and zoos later Eva and Nikhil have decided to tie the knot, and they would love for you to attend their special day.
