The Wedding Website of Eva Dicker and Graham Johnson
Question

How should I RSVP?

Answer

You should RSVP through the wedding website! The deadline is April 30th, but we would like you to RSVP ASAP!

Question

What are the expectations for guest behavior?

Answer

We expect all guests to treat each other with kindness and respect. Our wedding will be a joyful and safe space for our loved ones, including trans, gay, Muslim, immigrant, and BIPOC friends and family. If you cannot celebrate without discrimination, bigotry, or harmful “opinions,” then we suggest you reconsider attending. This issue is personal to us. As an educator, Eva focuses on supporting first-generation and low-income students, and her publicly-funded research investigates how emotion impacts health across individual differences like age, gender, culture, race, etc. The communities she serves are directly affected by policies that threaten human rights. Our wedding will be a space of love, not debate, and we will not tolerate bigotry in any form.

Question

Do I get a plus one?

Answer

We are truly grateful for the many wonderful people in our lives, and it means the world to us to celebrate with you. That said, due to limited space and other logistical factors, we unfortunately can’t extend invitations to everyone with a plus one. We’ve chosen to prioritize family members and close friends, as well as those who have been a part of our lives for longer periods of time. Your invitation will specify exactly who is invited, and if you’re concerned about coming solo, we want to assure you that there will be plenty of familiar faces to reconnect with! You can view the guestlist here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1l7H1MWwzHDygE5FWwlVM6nql9u6Xjd5p7GjNk0ieZVs/edit?usp=sharing We also encourage our friends to travel together and share rooms when possible—making the trip a fun experience for everyone. Thank you for your understanding, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

Are my kids welcome?

Answer

We love all the kids in our family, but please note that our wedding will be an adult-only celebration. However, we want all our guests to feel comfortable and relaxed, so we’re offering a child care option for those who need it. If you’re interested, please reach out to us as soon as possible to reserve a spot.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Our suggested dress for the wedding is Colorful Cocktail. Let's look amazing and dress up! Big patterns and colors! Don't know what cocktail attire is? Neither did we before planning this wedding! Here is a great resource to help: https://www.theknot.com/content/cocktail-wedding-attire Feel free to run something by us if you're not sure!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

For the wedding, we are hoping for sun and temperate skies. But we are talking about Seattle here. Be prepared for rain, sun, and everything in between. We recommend bringing a good raincoat and an umbrella. If it is raining on the big day, the ceremony will be moved inside.

Question

What is the venue like?

Answer

The Fremont Foundry is a former working metal foundry and artist commune custom-built by local artist Peter Bevis. The Fremont Foundry is where some of Seattle’s most iconic art such as the Jimi Hendrix statue was created. Now a wedding venue, it offers indoor and outdoor space for people who like to party! The ceremony is planned to take place on the rooftop, where we will also have cocktail hour. Then, we will move down for dinner and dancing! There is street parking and paid lots surrounding the venue. Please note there will be stairs to access the rooftop space. You can learn more about the Fremont Foundry on their Instagram (@fremont_foundry) or here: https://landmarkeventco.com/venues/fremont-foundry/

Question

How do I get to the wedding?

Answer

Uber is a very reliable mode of transportation in Seattle. We will be providing an Uber voucher that you can use to get to the ceremony and back home again from the reception. We encourage you to carpool and drive safely!

Question

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony is planned to start at 5:30 pm. We recommend you arrive 15-30 minutes before the start time to allow yourself ample time to get lost, park, wander, catch up, take pictures, etc.

Question

What kind of food and drink will be provided?

Answer

We’re excited to share that our wedding menu will feature a variety of delicious options! During cocktail hour, we’ll be serving passed appetizers, followed by a family-style dinner with both meat and vegetarian options to suit a range of tastes. We’ll also have a selection of desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth! To drink, we’ll have beer, wine, a few signature cocktails, and some refreshing non-alcoholic options. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know when you RSVP, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

Question

What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?

Answer

Please indicate your allergies and dietary restrictions through your RSVP! We will do our best to accommodate them.

Question

Can I request a song?

Answer

Yes! Please submit your song recommendations through your RSVP.

Question

What are the wedding colors?

Answer

The wedding colors are olive green, cobalt blue, light pink, dark maroon, bright orange, and cream. Wear these colors at your own risk or you may be confused for a member of the wedding party!

Question

What should we call you now?

Answer

We will not be changing our names for professional reasons and so Eva can keep the Dicker name living on! You are free to keep calling us Dr. Dicker and Mr. Johnson.
