How We Met

Her story

Bartholomew and I first crossed paths in 2012,in the lively city of Port Harcourt. At the time, he was a student at the University of Science and Technology, focused on completing his degree, while I was just starting my own academic journey. Whenever school was in session, I was away on campus, but during semester breaks, I would help my mum at her shop, which was conveniently located right at the university’s main gate. It was during one of those breaks that our paths truly met. One afternoon, as I was making my way home and heading toward the bus stop, I heard someone calling out to me. I chose not to respond and kept walking, but he didn’t give up, he followed me all the way to the bus. By sheer coincidence, I took a seat by the window, and there he was, smiling with a mix of confidence and charm, asking for my number. For reasons I still can’t fully explain, I gave it to him, and just like that, a new chapter in my life quietly began. From that day, he kept in touch, sending messages, checking in, and finding ways to make me laugh. As time went on and I grew more comfortable, he began stopping by my mum’s shop after we closed for the day. I’d stay back just so we could talk; about school, life, dreams, and sometimes nothing in particular. Those simple, unplanned moments became the foundation of something more. But like many real-life love stories, ours wasn’t without its challenges. There were stretches of silence, misunderstandings, a few breakups, and even the dramatic “block and delete” phases we laugh about now. Each time, we’d go our separate ways, only to somehow find ourselves drawn back to each other—again and again. Looking back, I see a story not just of romance, but of growth, patience, and persistence. Now, after all the twists, turns, and second chances, we stand side by side stronger, more certain, and ready to begin our forever together.

How We Met

His Story

I first met Eunice in 2012, back in Port Harcourt. I was in school at the University of Science and Technology, focused on my studies and my future. One afternoon, as I was leaving the main gate, I saw her walking by. She didn’t look like just any girl passing through. There was something about her that stood out. The first thing I noticed were her eyes. They were bright, expressive, and full of life. They caught me immediately. She also carried herself with this quiet confidence and modest beauty that made her hard to ignore. I knew right away I had to talk to her. I smiled and stopped her, but she didn’t make it easy. She gave me a tough time, but I wasn’t ready to give up. Eventually, she paid me some attention, and that small moment turned out to be the start of something big in my life. As I got to know her, I realized she wasn’t just beautiful on the outside. Her values, her faith, and the way she carried herself made her stand out even more. Being a pastor’s daughter showed in how grounded and modest she was. She wasn’t trying to impress anyone, yet she left a lasting impression on me. From then, I was intentional. I called her, checked on her, and little by little, we started talking more. Our conversations became the highlight of my day. We’d talk about her dreams, my plans, our faith, or just laugh about random things. It wasn’t always smooth. We had disagreements, long silences, and even times we thought it was over. She blocked me more times than I can count—something we laugh about now, but back then it wasn’t funny at all. Still, somehow, we always found our way back. Looking back, I believe God had a hand in bringing us together each time. Now, after years of growing, learning, and finding our way through it all, I can say for sure: Eunice isn’t just the girl with the beautiful eyes who caught my attention at the school gate—she’s my adviser, my gist mate, my best friend, my partner, and the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.
