Our story goes back to childhood, long before we ever thought of each other the way we do now. We first met in 3rd grade during Bible study, and were classmates again in 4th grade. Mae doesn’t remember much from that time, but somehow, Eugene never forgot. He remembers being a shy kid who already had a quiet crush on her, even then. Years later, we found ourselves in the same high school and became seatmates in our first year. That was when everything truly began. We started out as best friends. We spent most days side by side in school, and even after going home, we would stay on the phone for hours talking about anything and everything. Somewhere in between those long conversations and everyday moments, we slowly became each other’s constant. Through it all, Eugene consistently tried to win Mae over until in 2013, Mae finally said yes. Life eventually took us on different paths. But in 2019, we found our way back to each other. This time, Mae said yes again, with a deeper understanding of the love we share. Since then, we’ve built a relationship grounded in friendship, shaped by time, and strengthened by choosing each other again and again. Today, we celebrate a love that began in childhood, grew through the years, and led us to this moment—ready to begin a lifetime together.
