Things To Do

For a mid-size metro area, Jackson has a LOT of good restaurants. Whatever type of cuisine you like, you'll probably find good options. We've always enjoyed Georgia Blue, Local 463, and Saltine. If you're looking for something nicer, check out Ely's Restaurant & Bar (reservations recommended) or Caet. For pizza, try Sal & Mookie's New York Pizza & Ice Cream Joint. Jackson also has some fabulous museums such as the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, the Museum of Mississippi History, the Mississippi Children's Museum, and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. If you're in the mood for an escape room, Enter/Locked in Ridgeland is fun! And if you want to get out into nature (April is beautiful in Mississippi), visit the Overlook at the Ross Barnett Reservoir and take the multi-use trail alongside the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Caet Seafood

Caet Seafood

1000 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157
, (601) 321-9169

We went here on our first date. Needless to say, we had a good time. Also the redfish is great!

Georgia Blue

Georgia Blue

202 Baptist Drive, Madison, MS 39110
, (601) 898-3330

A great spot for a casual weeknight dinner or date night. Stephen HIGHLY recommends the Red Beans & Rice or the Bayou Catfish!

Ely's Restaurant & Bar

Ely's Restaurant & Bar

115 West Jackson Street, Ridgeland, MS 39157
, (601) 605-6359

This one is more of a pricier splurge, but it's probably the best filet we've ever had.

Capri Theatre

Capri Theatre

3023 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216
, (601) 487-9520

The historic Capri theater in Jackson's Fondren neighborhood is a cool spot to catch a movie while eating dinner. Or if you're in the mood for bowling, Highball Lanes (located right next door) is a great place for bowling AND dinner. Just make sure you get reservations!

Overlook at Ross Barnett Reservoir

Overlook at Ross Barnett Reservoir

Natchez Trace Parkway, Madison, MS 39110

The URL should show you right where the Overlook is. Or just navigate to the Natchez Trace Parkway in Ridgeland, head east, and look for the sign for the Overlook! The multi-use trail starts at the Overlook and goes for 10 miles. It's a great place for a walk!
