Please contact either Euan or Pop using this email address (euan.jidapha@gmail.com), and we will be able to help you the RSVP.
Please let us know by August 31st if you are able to make it to the wedding. For any specific travel arrangements, please let us know by 30th September. The deadline for the RSVP has passed.
The best way to get to Betong is to get to either Hat Yai Airport (Thailand) or Penang Airport (Malaysia). If you let us (Euan and Pop) know what day you will be arriving at these airports we can provide transportation to Betong. The bus journey from Hat Yai will be around 4 hours. The bus journey from Penang will be 2-3 hours but you will be going through immigration at the Malaysia/Thailand border.
We recommend arriving on the 29th November (we will be providing transport from either Hat Yai or Penang). For those who'd like to arrive earlier, please let us know so we can provide the transport to Betong.
We have provided a few suggested places to stay in Betong. It is a tourist spot, so there are plenty of other hotels/hostels if the ones we suggest are not available. If you have any troubles booking, please let us know ASAP. We recommend staying a minimum 2 nights (29-30th November).
Bangkok: The best way to travel is public transportation (BTS or MRT), taxi, or Grab (app that is similar to Uber). Tuk tuk is an option (but be careful for scams). Travelling to other cities/destinations: Flights to closest cities is best. There is options to rent car (drive with care) or motorbikes. Check if you have international licence that is in-date. Public transport is doable, but only works in big cities. Betong: The common mode of transport is tuk tuk or scooter/motorbikes. The town is quite small so you should be able to walk to many restaurants or local spots. For those who are interested going further to tourist spots (e.g. jungle camp or sky walk, etc.), let us know and we can arrange transport to get you there and back.
The Thai currency is Baht. In Thailand, cash is still used widely and cards are only accepted in large stores/departments. In Betong, it is strongly recommended to bring cash.
Very delicious (yum yum) A lot of places are "street food", which is very cheap. Make sure you carry cash as these places will not accept cards. The food is really varied. However, please be aware that fish sauce and/or oyster sauce is used widely. If you are allergic, please be careful. Vegetarian and vegan options are limited, but can be found.
The weather will be warm and humid. Temperatures can range between 23 to 35 Degrees Celsius. Staying hydrated is strongly recommended.
