To Get To The Trailhead: The entrance to Malibu Creek State Park is located on the west side of Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road between the 101 and PCH, 6.1 miles from the coast (just south of Mulholland Highway). A fee of $12 per vehicle is charged to park inside Malibu Creek State Park. Parking is also available outside the park. Dogs are not allowed on this hike, but mountain bikes are permitted. Gorgeous 3.2-mile loop hike nestled in Malibu hills. You will often hear and see parrots and parakeets that have made the mountains their homes the trees. Know Before You Go The Solstice Canyon Trail is paved for the first half mile and stroller-friendly up to the Keller House. The house is fenced off and under video surveillance but can be seen relatively close-up by crossing a small bridge after viewing the informational placard on the trail. Wildfires, including the 2007 Corral Fire and the 2018 Woolsey Fire, often damage the area and lead to trail closures. After viewing the Keller House, continue on the Solstice Canyon Trail to see the ruins of the Roberts' House (built in the 1950s and destroyed by fire in 1982). The architect of the Roberts' House, Paul Revere Williams, also worked on the Theme Building at LAX and Murphy Ranch.

Know Before You Go The restaurant is closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and serves breakfast and lunch only on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations for dinner are taken for three shifts of seating each evening. The bar is open on a first come, first-serve basis.

In 1941, Idle Hour’s barrel-shaped structure derived as part of the "Programmatic architecture" movement, which was a direct link to the rise of the automobile when business owners in the 20's and 30's designed their buildings to catch the attention of quick passing motorists. Idle Hour is one of the last standing structures of this type in Los Angeles and now serves Americana cocktails and fare that are a definitive time stamp reflective of its original era.

A treasure hunter's tiny bar, harboring celebrities since 1959. Chez Jay is just ½ block south of the Santa Monica Pier on the east side of Ocean Avenue, right next to the incredible Tongva Park. It is in the heart of the civic center district, steps from the Third Street Promenade and many of Santa Monica's best hotels, and of course, the famous Santa Monica beaches are just steps away. A stroll to Chez Jay is leisurely, and the stroll home is even more accessible.
Opened in 1971, the shop sold surfboards to the Dogtown locals who rode the waves around the abandoned Pacific Ocean Park. Skateboarding took a backseat to surfing until the Zephyr Team showed up at the 1975. Since 2012, Dogtown Coffee has occupied the space. Visitors to this home of uncommon industrial wonder will find a collection of carefully displayed objects that reflect a cinematic flair, as the owner is a Los Angeles area camera artist who works on various films. The name of the store is short for regeneration, as in giving old objects a new life. Many of the items on display were crafted from forlorn items that now push the boundaries of art and the skill of repurposing discarded objects. The ReGEN Haus is a cabinet of curiosities designed to perplex and gratify.
