Beynac et Cazenac

~10 min from the Chateau this is a storybook medieval village overlooking the river, with a dramatic hilltop château and great lunch spots.

Canoeing on the Dordogne River

Sarlat la Caneda

~25 min from the château — A beautifully preserved medieval town known for its markets, restaurants, and charming old streets.

La Roque Gageac

~20 min from the château — A spectacular cliffside village with river views and traditional boat rides.

Caves with prehistoric drawings/engravings/paintings

There are several nearby historic caves that are open to visitors, including - Lascaux IV (facsimile) - Rouffignac - Font de Gaume (very limited places, book in advance) - The Combarelles - Cap Blanc - A guided tour is also available by reservation at the National Museum of Prehistory

Bergerac Wine Region

~45–60 min from the château — A relaxed wine region with family-run vineyards producing reds, whites, and sweet wines.

Marqueyssac Gardens

~30 min from the château — Cliff-top gardens with winding paths and panoramic views over the Dordogne Valley, especially lovely at sunset.

Dune du Pilat

~3 hours from the château — Europe’s tallest sand dune, offering spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and the basin.

Cap Ferret

~3–3.5 hours from the château — Ocean beaches, a scenic lighthouse, and some of the best oyster spots in the region.
