Portsmouth has plenty of boats, good restaurants, and hidden gems, making it a favorite destination of ours when we visit the area. Here are a few of our favorite restaurants and activities. We hope you have a great weekend on the Seacoast!

Things To Do

The center of town - and the place to go for shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Market Square

The Isles of Shoals are a small group islands about six miles off the coast. We anchor off the islands when we take Knot Leavin' between Rockport & Maine. Do as we do and get out for a ride on the water.

Isles of Shoals Steamship Company

Just down the street from the wedding venue is one of our favorite off the beaten path beaches and parks. With a coastline trail and two lighthouses, on a clear day you can even see Rockport.

Fort Foster Park & Beach

If you're looking to get out of Portsmouth, this is one of our favorite nature walks on the York River. 1.7 miles long and good for all levels. Be sure to stop by the Dockside for lunch on York Harbor afterwards.

Wiggly Bridge

It's hard to pick a favorite shop, but Ethel & Sue find the best consignment steals at this boutique.

Wear House

Portsmouth and the surrounding area has a great beer scene. Tributary, Great Rhythm, Liar's Bench, and even Cisco has a brew pub in town.

Local Breweries

Ethel & family's favorite spot in Portsmouth. Come for the river views and stay for the sushi, seafood, and cocktails (the Paloma is a must!)

Surf Portsmouth

Great dinner spot for small plates focused on local ingredients. Save room for dessert.

The diner you will need on Monday morning. You're welcome.

The Friendly Toast

Charming bistro with delicious food & wine steps from the river and historic tug boats.

Black Trumpet

Great local food and views, with outdoor fire pits on the river.

Martingale Wharf

Oysters, great craft beer list, a go-to spot for lunch or dinner.
