Our love story started 30 years ago. I was 15 and a freshman in high school. He was 18 and had just graduated. We dated for a while until I moved away. We lost touch back then because we did not have everyday use of a cell phone or Facebook. Flash forward to December 23rd of 2020, where he sent me a message on Facebook Messenger. We talked for hours almost everyday and finally went on a date January 11th, 2021. This past year he has been my best friend, my rock, and has supported me unconditionally with my career. In April this year, I was on a travel nurse assignment in Maryland when I got sick with COVID. Eddie drove the 9+ hours from South Carolina to Maryland to come take care of me. At the time my roommate in Maryland also had COVID and she was even more sick than I was. I didn't ask him to come, but this amazing guy didn't even hesitate at the thought that it would put him at double risk of catching COVID. After he was there for almost a week, my roommate and I knew that neither of us were going to be well enough to finish our work contracts. Eddie cared about me so much that we rented a tow car trailer, packed up all my stuff (he even helped my roommate pack some of hers), loaded it all in my car, and then drove me home to South Carolina.
