We both agree that we officially met on January 27, 2018 at a friend's wedding, which just so happened to be at Arching Oaks, the venue for our big day as well! When Ethan tells the story, he says that I broke his heart that night by leaving early. When I tell the story, I say that it was his fault for leaving and I was ready to go home by the time he showed back up. We had a small conversation that lasted a few minutes before I gave him a hug and left. I thought that would be the last time I spoke to him but, as it turns out, he was determined to keep our conversation going from that night. We talked for about a week before we set a day to go on our first date, which almost did not happen because Ethan ended up in the hospital a few days earlier and we thought we would have to postpone. Thankfully he got out of the hospital the day before, and we were able to have lunch at the Quart House in LaBelle and then spent the rest of the day in the woods with his Dad and younger brothers. For those of you who are wondering, yes, he had me meet his family on the first date!! After that day, the rest has been history and I could not imagine being with anyone else <3
Ethan proposed on our way back from Georgia, one of our all time favorite places to go when we can get a way for a few days. He played it off like we were going to show our friend a beautiful nature park that we have stopped at a couple of times when it has been just the two of us. I was super excited to see it again, so off we went down the trail to the river. On our way back, Ethan wanted to take a moment to sit and talk. The next thing I know, Ethan pulls a ring from his pocket and hands it to me. I spent a couple of seconds looking at it while Ethan said a few things (I honestly cannot remember exactly what he said) before getting down on his knee and asking me to marry him. Once I realized what was happening, and asking about five times if he was sure that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, I said yes!
