If you are visiting from out of town we recommend checking out Park City. To get there from Salt Lake City, you'll drive up Parley's Canyon into the Wasatch Mountains. Park City has many cute shops and restaurants, as well as cooler summer temps (it's also where we had our first date). If you want 360° mountain views, consider continuing your drive up through Park City to Guardsman Pass. You can then descend back down into Salt Lake valley through Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Easy: Cecret Lake Just under 2 miles round trip, this hike has a clear path and limited elevation gain. Parking is limited, and the closest parking is paid (at the Alta ski resort), however, there are incredible alpine views! Medium: Bell Canyon Reservoir and Falls This hike offers great views of Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch Mountains. You can choose to just hike up to the reservoir (1.5 miles round-trip, 400 ft. of elevation gain, still great views). Alternatively, you can continue hiking up past the reservoir to the falls (4.8 miles round-trip, 1500 ft. of elevation gain). Depending on the year's precipitation levels, there is a chance the waterfall will be smaller than expected. This is still a great hike regardless. P.S. This was our first hike together back in June of 2020. If you are in town for a longer period of time or would like more outdoor recommendations, feel free to text us. We have too many favorite hikes to list here!
This is the most iconic landmark in Salt Lake City and a must-see for those interested in architecture and American history. You can walk around the outside of the temple and see other historic LDS structures on the square.
