Both Mary and Ethan have known Mary's Matron of Honor, Laura Calderon, for over 20 years. Every year, Laura would always leave San Diego for the summer to go to Maine where her family has a home next door to Ethan's family. In the summer of 2012, Laura was finally able to convince Mary to come out to Maine with her after many years of being best friends. Before their trip, Laura shared that she had a VERY attractive neighbor that she wanted to introduce Mary to, but after seeing a photo of Ethan, Mary thought he wasn't all that. When Mary first arrived to Laura's house in Maine, she walked through the front door and locked in on the most beautiful green eyes she had ever seen. She kept her cool and politely shook hands with Ethan and they went their separate ways. The next day Ethan invited Mary to go out on the lake for a jet ski ride and sparks flew. Mary instantly felt comfortable and safe in Ethan's arms and they both knew they belonged in each other's life. Since Mary was only in Maine for 3 days, they hung out with each other as much as possible. At the end of their weekend, they exchanged phone numbers and stayed in touch for 6 months. It was made official once Mary went out to visit Ethan in Maine in January of 2013 and they began 2.5 years of a long distance relationship. Six years later, they have a beautiful home in sunny San Diego and while watching the greatest movie of all time, Star Wars, Ethan got down on one knee and asked Mary to be his wife.
