Kelsey and Ethan first met when one of Kelsey's sorority sisters asked Kelsey if she could take one of her friends, Ethan, to the AOPi Halloween date party. Kelsey made it clear at the time that she wasn't looking for anyone and Ethan was told not to "make any moves". While neither of them realized it then, Ethan and Kelsey would run into each other again a month later at formal and strike up a humorous conversation which led to them exchanging phone numbers and dancing the whole night. Suddenly, a connection was formed which turned into something so much more.

Kelsey and Ethan were in Birmingham for the weekend and had talked about going to a nice brunch and picking out pumpkins to paint for Halloween. While Kelsey thought they were on their way to brunch, Ethan insisted on making a stop at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to "pick out pumpkins". Once there, Ethan took Kelsey's hand and led her to the lilypad pond where he expressed his love and proposed to her. Then, a bunch of Kelsey and Ethan's friends ran out on the terrace, cheering and screaming for them. Kelsey was so overjoyed and gave an enthusiastic yes! Surrounded by close friends, they celebrated by watching Alabama football and Alabama beating Tennessee. Nope. There was no brunch reservation, but Kelsey didn't care. She was now engaged to her forever person.
