This is a large art museum (like, it takes up two blocks) with a cute cafe and cool atrium. You can see everything from large video sculptures to civil war photography.
Very fun and interactive for kids, and it is also near the waterfront and other cool museums. This is not a free museum.
Psychedelic interactive art museum with a themed bar. Not free and timed tickets are required.
Come see the only pandas in the US (we think??), and for free! The Smithsonian also has a brand new bird house where they bring out birds to meet the public.
Come see the only DaVinci in North America (we think??) for free! They also have Monet and many others, as well as a couple good cafes & a cool sculpture garden.
Walk around beautiful historic Georgetown and then check out the park and boardwalk along the Potomac River. The park includes benches, steps to the water and a splash pad. The boardwalk is lined with restaurants and will lead you to the boathouse to rent kayaks and canoes.
If you want to experience a national park in the middle of DC, spend time walking in rock creek park. You’ll see owls, hawks, beavers, herons, and a historic mill and orchard. Fun for the kids to run around.
What doesn’t the Wharf have? A fresh seafood dock, piers with bon fires and swings, restaurants on restaurants, ice cream, and a splash pad— there’s something for everyone.
