Like a lot of people these days, we matched on a dating app (shoutout Bumble) in Spring of 2019. Back then, ladies on Bumble had to make the first move and start the conversation... and if they didn't, after 24 hours, the match would disappear. 20 hours into the 24 hour 'don't be shy, say something!' period, Ethan was nervous that this cute Peruvian lady was going to disappear back into the internet forever. So much so, that he had to use his one free 'Daily Extend' to get her attention... and thankfully, he did! Claudia messaged first, and before we knew it, we had totally hit it off and were talking as often as possible. However, at this point, Claudia was basically over online dating and figured something was probably wrong with this nerd from Kansas too. So to not waste any more time, she pushed for us to meet up for tea as soon as possible. But... this was Ethan's first time meeting up with someone from a dating app and he was a bit worried about how things would go. After a couple weak excuses, Claudia called Ethan's bluff and basically said 'It's now or never buster' and we agreed to meet for tea the following Thursday. Our first date started with both of us, individually, arriving 15 mins early to make sure we each got a good parking spot and could mentally prepare. But Ethan saw Claudia walking in, 10 minutes early, and went for it. He hopped out of his car, said 'Hey! Claudia?', which definitely took her by surprise and threw off her entire plan. We joked about it as we went into the store and while we waited to order. Instead of thinking ahead about what he wanted, Ethan confidently said 'I'll have one of those too' after Claudia ordered her Chai Latte (something he had never heard of before). But it worked, she was impressed! Flash forward four hours and Ethan had finally gotten through his latte, Claudia had fully vented about work, the staff were putting chairs on the tables trying to make it clear they wanted to close, and the two of us were having an amazing time. We finally took the hint and made our way back out to the parking lot (pretty sure they shut the lights off before the door closed). We hugged and parted ways for the evening, but as soon as we each got home, we started planning date #2. A year later, we moved in together and added Gamora to our little family in June of 2020. And then in November of 2021, we adopted little miss Mandy. In July of 2023, we got engaged. And in October of 2023, like cliché millennials, we bought a house with a yard for the girls. After 6 years of laughs, naps, trips, farts, and lots of dog hair, we're so excited to finally be getting married and we're so excited to celebrate with all of you!
